Nature deficit disorder is real, and must be countered with more than the occasional New Urbanist “pocket park.” The mandate for contin-uous corridors of natural (or naturalistic) open space within our cities can’t be forgotten as we work to make every pedestrian’s walk useful, safe, comfortable, and interesting—
This makes me so happy. I am sometimes a little bemused by the emphasis on 'pocket parks'. Certainly, they are a nice retrofit for a bit of urban interstice/marginalia, but they aren't NATURE. You need a big park for that, with hills and trees. (Lawn alone doesn't cut it).
